I can't actually program, so I don't know where this software came from. I wrote it somehow but can't really believe I did. Anyway here are some tools, some are written by me, and others not.

My Tools

RegionEditor This program will allow you to drag squares (representing regions) over your background image. You can move the squares around, rename them, and lots of good stuff. When you're finished you can copy the code it gives you into your program. If there is demand for it I might put the ability to change colour of the squares (now it is black, which can be hard to see on some backgrounds) and to load in previously made regions. That's only if someone emails me though.
SetScale Calculator Some people have been having trouble with the setScale command. What you need to do is find the Y coordinate at which your character should be the smallest. Then you type that in along with the percent of her original size she should be at that point. Same with the maximum y coordinate and percent. This program will spit out a setScale statement for you, no calculators or algebraic knowlege required!
Photoshop Font Helpers This includes files for Photoshop 5.5 which you can use to create fonts less painlessly. There is one image containing a text layer with all the characters you should need. Then I have included two Photoshop actions. One will take the font from the text layer and paste it on a transparent (magenta) background along with a black border. The other will automatically crop and create a new TGA when you have a general area around the character selected. Place the fonttools.atn file in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 5.5\Goodies\Adobe Photoshop Only\Actions

Other Tools

ModTracker There is a common misconception that no tool exists to convert midi files to mods. This program does that and more. I had a great time importing my own samples and substiuting them for the intruments in a midi (cows, my Uilleann pipe, etc!) Mod files can really make a game sound super! Too bad they are sort of large. Oh, this program likes to save IT files, which are basically the same as MOD files. Let it do that because SLUDGE works with both.
DownRate I didn't write this program, but it's so old it disapeared from the internet. So I'm putting it up here for you to download. This dos program will batch process MP3s to a lower bitrate. This is useful, as SLUDGE doesn't support very high bitrates. Or in the case that you recorded 200 sound clips at a 256 bitrate and don't want to change them all back. Make two folders, one called Mp3In and another called Mp3out. Place the files you want in the Mp3In folder and click the shortcut icon which is shaped like a CD. It's pretty straightforward from there.
Free Graphic Editors This is a nice site which has a large amount of freeware for you to download. This links to the graphic editors section. If you're cheap like me, you can try some of these editors out. They probably support TGA files and some are almost as good as the commertial programs out there. Try Gimp for Windows, Pixia, and Dogwaffle first.
