To Time

I look upon the Past and see
A time when I could be carefree
And seldom take life seriously.
Life was just a game to me,
With smutty jokes and memories
Of great Romantic fantasies.
A passionate embrace, now leaving naught a trace.

And then, one day, it was all gone.

The Timekeeper, he said,
"The others now have left,
And so must you."

But whither would I go?

The ones
I knew before
went down
a rabbit hole
of endless raving lunacy.
Like sheep,
they tumbled
one
by
one
having the time of their lives
in the process.

And yet, that life was not for me.
A different Future beckoned me,
An alternate reality.
A newfound place where I could see
Formation of new memories;
A new breed of Intimacy.
Starting life anew, I knew it to be true.

I know the road that I must take,
I know I make naught a mistake,
Though still...

...I look upon the Past and see
A time when I could be carefree
And seldom take life seriously.
Life was just a game to me,
With smutty jokes and memories
Of great Romantic fantasies.
A passionate embrace, it still leaveth a trace.
