Last night, I finished playing through Blue Lacuna. All I can really say about it is that it’s one of those interactive stories that makes me feel like I have no business writing interactive stories at all, because someone else just went and did something I’ve always wanted to do, but ten times better. Anyway, what I mean to say is that you should definitely check it out, if you haven’t already.
On a sort of related note, if I were, by chance, to write an IF game at some point in the future — an actual IF game with a text parser and stuff, not just a hypertext/choose-your-own-adventure thingy like the stuff I’ve already done — how many of you would be interested in playing it?
I would play such a thing.
Heck, I’ve contemplating building one of my own, but haven’t quite settled on a topic yet. I still haven’t found a good excuse to spend as much time with Inform 7 as I would like…
By the way, I once found an old abandoned project of yours: Deal with the Devil. Could you please tell me anything about it?
Wow, I see what you’re saying. I’d like to make adventures someday too, and there’s no way they’ll be half as well-considered as Blue Lacuna. (Thanks for passing on the link!)
HJP: Deal with the Devil wasn’t my project; it was someone else’s game idea that I volunteered to do programming for, years and years ago. Obviously, it didn’t work out.
Mory: I thought you’d like it; it definitely seemed like your kind of thing.
Sorry for asking again so late, but what’s about your Last Express inspiration? I would be interested to see your unique style combined with Last Express-type gameplay devices.
That sort of inspiration might make it into an IF game.
You know I would.
IF game? Maybe, but I would personally prefer something closer to TGTTPOACS or Chivalry, but with some additional mechanisms.
