Bad Attitudes and Schooling
September 17th, 2007Leopold McGinnis, author of Game Quest and friend of yours truly, has recently written a new novella called Bad Attitude. Being the huge Leopold fangirl I am, I bought a copy as soon as it was available (and was even congratulated on being the very first to do so), received it last Friday, and gobbled it up in two hours that very evening. It’s a freakin’ hilarious read, poking merciless fun at people who see success, money, and power as their reasons for being, and even has clever hand-drawn illustrations in it. Needless to say, I highly recommend reading it.
In unrelated news, I finished my summer game company job about two weeks ago, and am now back in school, both studying and working as a teaching assistant. It’s looking to be quite an eventful term, indeed. Hopefully, I’ll still be able to finish Chivalry in the process.

Odd that you link to that page by Stephen Bond. I read it only the other day, after seeing a link to a game design related page of his (in an IF group) and then browsing his site in general.

Wow! I guess I should congratulate you on being my first fangirl too! That’s so awesome - I’m all squishy and woozy on the insides. Teenagerish emotions are stopping up my mind…I can’t speak! All I can do is offer a gushing, enthusiastic and entirely-uncool ‘Thanks! I’m really glad you enjoyed the book!’

Cool. Now I feel an incredible urge to read this book

Rikard: Yeah, I’d followed links to Stephen Bond’s site from IF resources, too. I don’t play much IF (I only really started after you recommended me Best of Three), but I do find it fascinating to read what IF developers have to say about game design, as the little I actually HAVE played is quite forward-thinking, storytelling-wise.
Spencer: Do it! You won’t regret it! And you’ll make Leopold happy, too.
