Reading is fun.

July 20th, 2006

So, I’ve realised that I don’t write nearly enough about books in this blog as I do about games. Surely, that’s to be expected, since my future (present?) career is in games; however, I do love to read. A lot. I just haven’t been doing enough of it these days.

However, two days ago, I did happen to purchase a copy of Phantom by Terry Goodkind, and yesterday, I happened to finish it. Now, for those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, Phantom is the second-last book in the Sword of Truth series, which I expected would be just as frustrating as finishing Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Fortunately, it wasn’t all THAT bad. But maybe I’ve just become desensitized to cliffhanger endings.

But wait, there's more! »

DS Adventure Games

July 11th, 2006

I heard a lot about Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney last year, but never got around to playing it, mainly because I didn’t want to go through the trouble of buying a Nintendo DS. However, now that I have a DS and managed to get a copy of the game before it went out of print AGAIN, I can proudly say that I have played the fabled Phoenix Wright, and it is excellent, and I highly recommend it. It’s extremely melodramatic and intentionally cheesy - what more could I possibly want in a game?

I also played Trace Memory (AKA Another Code in other parts of the world), which was also good. A friendly ghost that reminded me of Casper follows you around everywhere. Unfortunately, there was no instance in the game in which said friendly ghost turned into a human who just so happened to be played by a barely pubescent Devon Sawa. I was, indeed, disappointed.
