La Dee Da
April 17th, 2006No blog posts for the month of April yet? Well, I’ve been very very busy. It’s final exam season again, after all.
Anyway, I thought it would be a nice time to mention that TGTTPOACS got a very nice review in this month’s Independent Adventuring column, which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. “If you play one game released in March, make it this one.” Good God, that’s the sweetest thing anyone’s ever said to me all year!
Also, since it IS exam time and all, I ended up having a little bit of time to play some adventure games as well. Here’s a nice little list of them:
Bone: The Great Cow Race - Buy this game ASAP, if you haven’t already! It’s incredibly cute and twice as good as the last Bone installment. And no, I’m not just saying this because I’m going to be working for Telltale in a month.
Spooks - Possibly the greatest use of black and white graphics in an amateur adventure game since Nick Bounty, which contained the greatest use of black and white graphics in an amateur adventure game since Cubert Badbone. Oh, and it’s made by another Canadian girl, which automatically makes it awesome.
2010: World of Chaos - Everyone said this game was terrible, so of course, I had to take a look at it. And it WAS terrible, even despite being partly set in Vancouver. But the music was awesome. In fact, if Richard Longhurst and the Box that Ate Time had this game’s music, I would definitely think of it as the greatest cult classic-y adventure game ever.
And finally, I replayed Full Throttle. Arguably, it’s one of the less popular old-school LucasArts titles out there, but it holds a special place in my heart for being my first-ever adventure game. Plus, its Official Strategy Guide, with its section on the game’s developer’s biographies, was probably among the first things to inspire me to take up game development as an actual career path. How’s that for a bit of useless trivia, eh?
Now, back to studying. And sleeping.

Whenever I smell ashfault, I think of Maureen…
…and trouble.
Congrats on the TGTTPOACS review. You should be proud. It’s a good game.

I’m glad you liked the review; that’s the least I could do for letting me enjoy your game. I’m planing a longer one once my exam season is over

congrats for that review - i understand why u’re happy
hm, say, couldn’t u make a little tiny change in your webpage so that links are opened in an extra window? following the links u post (and as i’m quite curious i like doing that) doesn’t mean that i want to leave your page already! that doesn’t really make people stay on your hp longer…
sunny greetings from vienna!

Noooo! Such links are evil.
If you want a new window, use your right mouse button. (Or whatever feature the browser you’re using has for it.) I prefer to control that myself. Websites has no buisness deciding for me that I should have a new window.

I’ve always felt it makes sense to open any ‘external’ links (to other websites) into a new window, and keeping ‘internal’ links in the same…
(Reminds me I still have to fix some stuff on my own site — apparently it looks like sh*t in Firefox! :-/ )
Sleep well, Squink.
