Gotta love those toons!
January 15th, 2006Oh goodness gracious me! A couple of days ago, I was browsing around my local EB Games, when I came across Toontown Online. Now, despite the fact that I don’t really buy games these days, much less MMORPGs, I just had to buy this one because it was cheap ($19.99 Canadian is pretty cheap for computer games these days) and its graphics had that certain cartoony charm that reminded me of Stupid Invaders. I played a bit of it today, and my first impression is that it’s a cute timewaster that I’ll probably play a lot when I’m bored and don’t really want to think for a while.
So, what else is new, you’re probably asking. I’m back at school, obviously. I’m learning how to program in OpenGL in one of my classes, which is cool. I’m still progressing on TGTTPOACS, of course, having finished yet another ending, pitting me at about… 75% completion? These days, the fact that I can actually see the end in sight instead of having an “oh no, I have so much more to do” mindset makes me quite optimistic. Then again, it won’t be long till assignments and midterms begin to swallow me whole again…

I’ve looked very briefly at Panda3d, which is the 3d engine the game uses. It’s freely available, and will be one of the engines I’ll consider if/when I make a 3d game. (That might happen as early as February. Currently, I don’t know what my next game will be. I’ll finish my current one first.)

Nice lil’ game, “The Interview”. I feel pity for, eh, err, Gert Rodriguez, or should it be Dirty Gerty? Because of here virtually non-present honkers. And because of her being followed by a (sort of Michael) Bolton guy in pantyhose.
Would die to see her in a swimsuit on that cruise ship. Oh, wait, would die to NOT see her in… haha
Nuff said, “Interview” was funny.
